I am a great believer in older, high-quality sewing machines. My main machine is my Bernina 811 Sport, which I love! I don’t know its age, but I do know that some of its parts are made of Bakelite. It is all metal, sturdy and durable, and does beautiful work. I also have an antique Seamstress Rotary treadle machine which is beautiful in itself, though I treat it with care and use it infrequently. My Janome serger is now thirty-two years old and still going. Nothing beats these older machines!
